"Tomorrow

2005 OPFMA Annual Conference and Trade Show
October
31 & November 1
Columbus Marriott North
|
In
Ohio we're 3-4 years deep into one of the worst fiscal crises in memory.
As public facility maintenance administrators and employees know far too
well, reduced funding and staffing cuts haven't reduced expectations.
Everyone is expected to do more with less all the time.
If it weren't challenging enough to handle the basics - keep roofs from
leaking, HVAC systems humming along, restrooms clean, and so forth - now
you're expected to help prevent terrorist attacks, improve "indoor
environmental quality," and learn about dozens of new building systems
and products that might save money but could bust the budget if you're
not careful.
That's where OPFMA and our 2005 Annual Conference and Trade Show will
help you. Whether you're working within a small school district, large
university, a mid-sized municipality, a non-profit, or any other public
facility maintenance department, and whether you're an administrator,
building operator, custodian or grounds keeper, the conference will help
you navigate the tough challenges - providing a path to the future.
As usual, the workshop sessions will be strong and will include many
topics we've never offered before. We will offer 6 sessions in 4 tracks
over two days - 24 in all to choose from. Tracks, titles and most of the
speakers are listed below. Session descriptions and speaker bios will
be available soon. Watch this page for additional updates.
Like last year, we also expect a strong collection of exhibitors on
Monday, Oct. 31. Exhibitors tell us that they come because attendees are "knowledgeable"
and "seriously interested in learning" about products and services
that can help them solve problems at their facilities. This year every
exhibitor will be given the opportunity to offer at least one 25 minute
table talk session during exhibition periods. Check this page periodically
for the updated list of registered exhibitors.
While the focus is certainly education, attendees will have time for
networking over good meals and during breaks in the wide concourses of
the Columbus Marriott North. Monday evening will feature a dinner/awards
banquet at the hotel. On Tuesday, following a business meeting over breakfast
and three more workshops, we'll wrap up with lunch and our annual raffle
with over twenty prizes!
